from St. Louis, MO Makes 16 Servings 1 c Butter; softened 2 c Sugar 3 Eggs 2 ts Vanilla 3 c Flour 1 1/2 ts Baking powder 1 ts Cinnamon 1/2 ts Salt 1/4 ts Ground mace 3 c Peeled chopped apples 2 c Chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 325°. Grease and flour a 10" tube pan. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Beat in vanilla. Stir flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and mace together; add to creamed mixture slowly. Stir in apples and nuts; transer to tube pan. Bake 1 hour 25 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

mace
3 c Peeled chopped apples
2 c Chopped walnuts
