2 Lbs potatoes peeled and quartered 2 Tbs oil ( olive ) 1 lg onion thin sliced 2 green bell peppers, seeded and thinly sliced 8 precooked sausages ( we use Turkey ) 1 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper 12 oz bottle beer or ale 1/2 cup crème fraiche 1/4 cup milk 1 tsp cornstarch I like to cook with beer and use smoked paprika. When I saw this recipe in the local paper we had to try it. Cook potatoes till tender and drain and set aside to cool a bit. Sauté in the oil, onion, peppers , sausages until onions become tender. Add smoked paprika and 1/2 of the salt and pepper . Add the beer and simmer by half. Place potatoes back in a pot and add the cream fraiche, milk, remainder of the salt and pepper and mash almost smooth. Cover and set aside to keep warm. In a small cup, add 2 Tbs cold water and the cornstarch. Mix well and add to beer vegetable mixture. Cook and stir to thicken sauce. To serve: mound potatoes on each of 4 plates, top with 2 sausages and spoon over the vegetable sauce mixture.
