I'm looking for a recipe for Claret sauce. The kind that you put on spumoni ice cream as a dessert. We used to get it everytime we visiting the local Italian restaurant. Of course, that was 25 years ago. Hoping someone has a recipe.
It can be found at http://recipes.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Claret_Sauce_Recipe -- a colorful, well-done site that also accepts recipes from members. 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup water 1/3 cup claret or light red wine Boil sugar and water eight minutes; cool slightly, and add claret.

The recipe I found calls for red Bordeaux wine, from France to be added to water/sugar syrup. I have not been able to enjoy Spumoni for soooo many years and have some in my freezer, right now. I'm looking forward to my first taste! They say claret sauce is also great on sherbet and lemon cake, I have some lemon cake, in the fridge that my neighbor brought over and I'm going to try that as well. Enjoy every bite and let us know how well the liked it. JG
