Los angeles, california Sauce Pasta Marinara Sauce (2) 1/4 C. olive oil 2 C. coarsely chopped onions 1/2 C. sliced carrots 2 - 3 cloves garlic 28 oz. can tomatoes 8 oz. can tomato sauce salt and pepper to taste 1 t. oregano 1 t. basil 1/4 C. butter (1/2 stick) Heat oil in large frypan. Add onions, carrots, and garlic. Cook and stir till soft and brown. In the meantime, put tomatoes through a foodmill. Add tomatoes and sauce to the carrot-onion mix. Add salt and pepper. Partially cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and put mix through foodmill. Return to pan and add herbs and butter. Cook, partially covered, slowly for 30 minutes. Makes 6 1/2 to 7 cups.~
