yields 30 buns 1 ts Salt 1/2 c Sugar 1 c Lukewarm milk 2 pk Active dry yeast 2 Eggs, beaten 1/2 c Soft shortening 4 c (- 5 cups) All purpose flour PRUNE FILLING 1 1/2 c Pitted prunes 4 tb Sugar 1 ts Cinnamon APRICOT FILLING 1 1/2 c Dried apricots 1/2 c Sugar Combine salt, sugar and milk. Crumble yeast into the mixture and let stand until it becomes frothy. Mix in eggs, shortening and flour. Turn onto a floured board and knead dough about 10 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and let stand in a warm place until doubled in bulk. Punch dough down and let rise again until doubled. Form dough into 2-inch balls and let rise until doubled. Press an indentation in each ball and fill with fruit filling. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 20 minutes. To make fruit filling, cook fruit in small amount of water, cool and mash or puree in the blender. Add sugar to fruit, and if making prune filling, add cinnamon.
