OATMEAL COOKIES 1 cup all purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 cup QUICK QUAKER OATS 6 Tbsp granulated white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 Tbsp water 1/2 cup chocolate chips or seedless raisins (optional) Heat oven to 325 F. Sift together flour, salt and soda in a bowl. Stir in QUICK QUAKER OATS. In a seperate bowl, cream together sugar, brown sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla to the creamed mixture and beat until smooth. Add dry mixture; then add water and mix. If desired, add raisins or chocolate chips then mix well. Drop cookies 1 Tbsp on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown. MAKES 2 1/2 - 3 DOZEN. Cynthia Krueger Woodstock, Ontario Canada --
