Sift flour, 1 cup sugar, and salt together into a bowl. Cut in butter. Beat egg and cream together and add to flour mixture. Mix lightly with a fork until mixture forms a ball. Spread dough in a greased 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350F about 30 minutes, or until dough is lightly browned around edges. Meanwhile, prepare fruit topping by combining the chopped fruits and walnuts with a mixture of the 1/3 cup sugar, 2 eggs, and fruit juices; mix thoroughly. Spread over partially baked dough in pan. Return to oven and bake 20 minutes. Remove to wire rack; cool. If desired, garnish with candied fruit such as candied cherries, can died pineapple, and/or candied orange peel. Cut in 2x1-inch pieces.
