home > recipes > fruits > strawberries in balsamic vinegar
from NY, USA 1 container ( 1 lb ) ripe strawberries 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar 6 Tbs. sugar optional garnish: mint leaves dollop of whipped cream or thick sour cream So simple and yet a elegant dessert to finish a special meal. You'll be pleasantly surprised that the vinegar blends so extraordinarily well with the berries! This only takes 10 minutes to prepare. The flavor and berry texture best when freshly prepared. Wash and drain berries. Slice in half vertically.( Medium size berries work the best- more manageable to eat.). Stir to dissolve sugar in the vinegar. In a zip lock plastic bag add berries and vinegar mixture and let sit 10 minutes on the counter. Place berries and some of the marinating liquid in clear glass dessert bowls or glasses. Garnish with mint leaves and a dollop of cream if desired. Yield 4 servings. Joan,Larry and Cosmo the cutie dog Visit our Culinary And Baking Adventures http://www.pipeline.com/~rosskat/
